Jesus is with You Whether You Stay or Go

I used to think

It was a precipice

Tightrope, and I was

Blindfolded with a

Pop quiz at every step

And a jiggled rope

If I got it wrong.

Then I was told

God’s not like that

At all.

More like a spotlight

That warms and follows and shines

Walking together

Forwards, back, sideways,

And still.

What a comfort!

And no pop quizzes to dread.

All you have to do is ask for the light.
