Long after my
Childhood cat was gone,
My sleepy foot nestled
Under a pillow at college,
And instinctively my body said,
“Ope! Don’t shove Frisky
Off the bed!”
Then I remembered
Frisky was an Ohio cat,
And I was in Kentucky,
And I had already said goodbye
On the bathroom floor
With tears
And the tears came back,
Because my foot remembered her
And loved her
All the same
5 years later.
